will be a free agent next month since playing for the Buffalo Bills and being drafted by them back in 2010. Spiller rushed 668 times for 3,321 yards and 12 touchdowns during his time with the Bills.

A league source told Metro New York on Wednesday that the Jets will have interest in Spiller once free agency begins.

“Spiller will be one of the players the Jets pursue, " the league source said. "Not just kick the tires on, but pursue. Chan Gailey would like him here in New York. He’s the pass catching option out of the backfield that the Jets need for this offense and he’s a playmaker."

“The offense isn’t bad, it needs a spark. Spiller? He can do that for the Jets and don’t think that the Jets don’t know it. They will pursue him.”

Former Georgia Tech head coach Chan Gailey is the Jets' new offensive coordinator after being the Bills' offensive coordinator from 2010-2012. Spiller would compete with playing time with Jets' running backs Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell.

Spiller rushed for 300 yards on 78 carries and had another 125 yards on 19 receptions in a injury-plagued 2014.
