Sidney Rice Wide Receiver Gaffney, SC (Gaffney HS) 6'5", 195 lbs Before the high school football season even started, Gaffney wide receiver Sidney Rice knew where he would be playing college football. Or at least he thought he did. The 6'5", 195 lbs. football and basketball standout had verbally committed to South Carolina. A few months ago, however, Rice changed his mind. "I backed out because I wanted to take a closer look at some of my other choices," Rice said. Along with South Carolina, Rice is now also looking at Clemson, Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Syracuse, and Florida. Clemson, who has not offered but Rice expects to soon, may have helped its chances with its recent win over Florida State, a game that Rice attended. "I was surprised with how the game went," Rice said. "But Clemson did a great job, and played a good game." Rice will start to focus more on his college choice in January. By then, the future of Coach Tommy Bowden could be a little more clear. If he does choose Clemson, Rice said what happens to Bowden won't factor into his decision. "They just started recruiting me, and it was Coach Blackwell that I talked to, so I really don't know Coach Bowden," Rice said.
