#84 - Akeem Robinson

6-4 270 pounds

Redshirt Sophomore

Miami, Florida native Akeem Robinson has found his home. Robinson came to Clemson as a large athletic specimen. At first, he spent time on the offensive line at tackle. Robinson just could not put on the weight he needed to stay on the offensive line. Last spring, he had a short stay on the defensive line. The move did not work out, and Robinson landed at tight end.

Most believed Robinson would be a sufficient blocker at tight end, but would never emerge as a receiving threat. This spring has been a turning point in the young career of Robinson.

He has stepped his game up to another level. He is clearly playing the best of all the tight ends at this point. He has responded very well to first year coach Billy Napier. On Saturday, Robinson will have a chance to finish off an outstanding spring.

Robinson does not have great speed, even for a tight end. He is still the best blocking tight end on campus, but he has shown this spring he can be sure handed. Watch to see how Robinson is used in the Tigers' passing game on Saturday. He will be a good target for the quarterbacks to find on third down.
