Mark Fields on his commitment to Clemson: "Clemson offers everything I want" |
Mark Fields
Mark Fields The 4-star Charlotte (NC) Hough cornerback committed to Clemson Sunday afternoon before he left to return home from his official visit, but the Clemson coaching staff promised to keep it a secret until Fields decided to publically commit to the Tigers. Fields becomes Clemson's 23rd commitment for the 2015 recruiting cycle. The 5-10, 186-pounder flipped from South Carolina to Clemson and told TigerNet shortly after making his decision public that Clemson offered him everything he was looking for in a school. “Clemson just offers everything that I want as far as academics, athletics and me accomplishing what I want to get done in three to four years,” Fields told TigerNet. “I just felt like it was a perfect fit and a chance for me to grow as a football player and an individual. I just wanted to make it happen.” Fields had been to Clemson several times, but spending time with players like former teammate
Van Smith Van Smith “I committed to Clemson because Clemson has everything that I want,” Fields said. “The visit just reinforced everything that I already knew and that Clemson is the place that I wanted to be. They are offering me everything that I want to be able to accomplish and get done, so I just said why not just go ahead and make it happen and just end it.” He decided to end his recruitment Sunday afternoon during his one-on-one exit meeting with head coach
Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney “I told them on Sunday that I was going to go ahead and commit but they kept it on the down low and nobody blew it up or anything and tonight I decided to just let it go,” Fields said. “I told Coach Swinney and he was really excited. All of the coaches said that they would keep it really low key until I decided to make it public and I did it tonight.” With his recruitment behind him, Fields said that he’s eager to get to Clemson and get started learning to be the best player possible. “Absolutely. I'm just going to go in next year and keep my mouth shut and try to learn as much as I can and just take it from there,” he said. “Clemson is getting a player that works hard on and off the field, wants to be the best and be a leader in the community.” S/O & Congrats to 2014 #TheOpening Alum Mark Fields on his commitment to #Clemson. #GOTOPEN #SolidOrange pic.twitter.com/iORJmbO7E8
