Swinney updates injury to Amari Rodgers

by -

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney provided the following update on an injury sustained by wide receiver Amari Rodgers:

“Amari injured his right knee in practice on Monday and will have surgery next week. He’s got a great attitude and he’s a grinder. I have no doubt he’ll come back better than ever.”

TigerNet has confirmed that the injury was revealed by an MRI to be a torn ACL.

Rodgers was an honorable mention All-ACC performer as an all-purpose selection, an All-ACC Academic selection and ranked second on the team in receptions with 55, tallying 575 yards and four touchdowns in 565 snaps in 15 games (all starts). He also returned 39 punts an average of 7.7 yards with one touchdown.

He caught team-high five passes for 73 yards at Texas A&M and recorded career-high six receptions, gaining 60 yards, at Georgia Tech. Rodgers had his best game of the season in Clemson's win at Florida St., when he earned co-offensive player of the game honors after posting career highs in receiving yards (156) and receiving touchdowns (two) on six receptions.
