Height: 6-0 Weight: 180 Hometown: Asheville, NC (Asheville HS) Class: 2006
Crezdon Butler had the perfect senior season. He went undefeated and won the state title, and then he had big punt return that keyed North Carolina's victory in the Shrine Bowl.
Now, Butler will focus his attention on Clemson. Butler certainly will have an opportunity to play next season. The Tigers have holes to fill at cornerback. Duane Coleman is the only player, who is even close to having a spot nailed down. Should Coleman take care of the classroom, he will be a starter in August. Assuming Coleman is back that leaves three spots open for competition on the two-deep. CJ Gaddis will likely take hold of the field corner position this spring. Then, Butler will have an opportunity to compete for a #2 spot. A big reason why Butler will have an opportunity is defensive coordinator Vic Koenning was clearly not pleased with the play of the corners not named Tye Hill last season. He is going to play the best players, and we feel Butler will likely be a strong contender in the mix. Haydrian Lewis, Ray Ray McElrathbey, and Chris Chancellor will have the edge in experience by one year, but Butler may be an equal in talent. Butler looks very similar to Tye Hill coming out of high school. He played primarily on offense, and he has tremendous speed, but Butler has not had the track training Hill did. Butler really gets in and out of his turns exceptionally well, and he will be battling to avoid the redshirt all the way through August. Freshman Forecast: 50/50
