Tigers pick up 13th commitment in Gore |
CLEMSON – Thirteen may be considered an unlucky number in some circles, but Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and his coaching staff might argue with that after they landed the 13th commitment of the 2011 recruiting class on Thursday. Joe Gore, a 6-foot-6, 262-pounder out of East Columbus High School in Lake Waccamaw, N.C., committed to the Tigers this afternoon. He had offers from several different schools, but had recently trimmed his list to a top four of Clemson, South Carolina, Duke and N.C. State. East Columbus head coach Travis Conner told TigerNet on Thursday afternoon that Clemson fans will fall in love with Gore. “Clemson is getting a good one,” Conner said. “On top of everything, he is just a great kid. What sets him apart as a football player are his length and speed. That is what makes him a great player. That and his really aggressive nature.” Conner said that it seems like Gore has talked to every coach in the country. “It has been like an NCAA coaches convention at our school,” he said. “During the spring, they have been coming in one after the other, and about a month ago he narrowed his choice down to those four and he has been around to visit those four. He had a great visit this weekend at Clemson, and I think that is what decided it for him.” 2011 Football Commitments
