Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney The teams don’t have a natural geographic rivalry, and haven’t met on the gridiron in 20 years, but this fan sent a letter to Swinney this week in the form of newspaper clippings from the Mountaineer GameDay, a publication of the Charleston (WV) Daily Mail. The letter arrived at Sikes Hall on the Clemson campus on Thursday, not the athletic offices, and it showed that it was processed at the post office in Charleston, West Virginia on December 20th. It was addressed to Clemson University, c/o Dabo Sweeney [yes, they misspelled his name.] Inside the normal envelope were five cut out pages, the first being a picture of Mountaineer quarterback Geno Smith. Written, in Sharpie, on the picture was the word “Superman.” The next one was a picture of punter Corey Smith. The third picture was of kicker Tyler Bitancurt, and written at the bottom was “YOUR SPECIAL TEAMS WON’T HELP!” The fourth cut out was a headline that simply said “dominates” and had obviously been trimmed from a longer headline, but written over it in Sharpie was “WVU-CLEMSON” to try and make it read as “WVU dominates CLEMSON.” The final page was a cut out of the West Virginia roster, and it said “THIS IS A REAL FOOTBALL TEAM!
