Four-star 2020 D.C. cornerback Luke Hill announced a commitment to Clemson on Sunday.
The rising junior is rated as high as the No. 6 cornerback in his class and also a top-100 prospect overall on Rivals and 247Sports. Hill had Clemson, who he regarded as his leader since the summer, in a top-10 with South Carolina, Oklahoma, Penn State, Texas A&M, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Florida and Alabama in June. In addition to Clemson, Hill also visited Penn State and Alabama in June. In an interview with TigerNet around his June Clemson camp stop, Hill said cornerbacks coach Mike Reed was a key player in his recruitment. “The relationship I have with Coach Reed,” he said of reasons why Clemson stood out. “Whenever I talk to Coach Reed, it’s mostly football and life. He basically keeps telling me to keep working and keep working hard... “Playing time is a main factor. but the main thing with Coach Reed is that Clemson plays with six DBs on the field at one time. Playing time becomes less important when you know there are six DBs because there is more opportunity.” Hill was named an All-Conference corner last season and opened his season at Hoover (Ala.) on Friday. Hill joins two more four-star defensive prospects in Clemson’s 2020 class in defensive tackle Demonte Capehart and linebacker Sergio Allen, as well as 3-star OL commit John Williams.
