Clemson five-star commit Xavier Thomas landed as a finalist for two major national awards this week.
The Florence native and IMG Academy product is one of six finalists for the Defensive Player of the Year Award, which will be announced at the US Army All-American Bowl awards show on Jan. 5. Thomas was also named as one of six finalist for the Anthony Munoz Lineman of the Year award earlier this week, along with Clemson offensive line targets Jackson Carman (5-star OT), Cade Mays (5-star OT) and Jamaree Salyer (5-star OG). Over eight games this season, Thomas was listed with 34 tackles, eight for loss with 2.5 sacks, as well as a punt block touchdown recovery and two pass breakups after a move from hometown Wilson High School to IMG Academy.
