3-star 2019 shooting guard Alex Hemenway from Newburgh, IN (Castle) has committed to Clemson during a school ceremony on Friday afternoon.

Hemenway chose the Tigers over his other finalists Belmont, Creighton, and Depaul. Other offers included Bradley, Butler, IUPUI, Nebraska, and Xavier.

"When they started recruiting me, it was just one of those things where you kind of felt like family,” Hemenway said about Clemson's staff to TigerNet. "Coach Bender is the assistant recruiting me. We’ve built a really great relationship. He’s a guy that I know that will get me better on and offer the court."

The 6-foot-4 guard averaged 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game during his junior campaign.

“I make shots,” he said. “That’s one thing that they said that sticks out about me. Off the dribble. Stationary. Off ball screens. They said I’m a shot maker and that’s one thing they said that they are losing so that’s what they kind of keyed on to me. That’s the one thing they said will help them mostly.”

He is another versatile performer for Clemson as he can defend at both guard spots.

His father is a friend and former high school teammate of Clemson coach Brad Brownell.

The 3-star prospect will not be able to sign a letter of intent until No. 14 which is the first day to sign for the fall signing period.

He is the third commitment for Clemson's 2019 signing class joining 4-star guards Al-Amir Dawes and Chase Hunter.
