Tim Bourret receives Lifetime Achievement award

CLEMSON, S.C. — The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced today that longtime Clemson Sports Information Director Tim Bourret has been named as a recipient of the organization’s 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award.

Bourret retired from his position as Sports Information Director in 2018 following 40 years of service to Clemson Athletics. He arrived at Clemson as assistant SID under Bob Bradley in September 1978 and was elevated to an associate SID position in July 1980. He became the director upon Bradley’s retirement in 1989.

Under Bourret’s guidance, Clemson’s sports information office was named to the Football Writers Association of America’s “Super 11” Team five times (2009, 2010, 2015, 2016 and 2017) since the honor’s inception in 2009. The award annually recognizes the top 11 SID offices in the nation for their service in working with media covering college football.

In addition to his work as Sports Information Director, the native of West Hartford, Conn., has been one of the longtime radio voices of Clemson basketball, serving as the color voice of the men’s squad since the 1979-80 season.

A 1973 graduate of Northwest Catholic High School, Bourret followed in his late father’s footsteps earning his undergraduate degree from the University of Notre Dame in business administration in 1977. He also earned his master’s degree in communication arts from Notre Dame in August 1978. Bourret worked as an undergraduate and graduate assistant under Hall of Fame SID Roger Valdiserri in Notre Dame’s office from 1975-78.

In November 2007, he was made an honorary alumnus of Clemson University by the Clemson Alumni Association.

Despite his retirement from his role as Sports Information Director, Bourret still serves as a statistician and on-air commentator for the Clemson Tigers Network and writes for Clemson game day programs and ORANGE: The Experience magazine. He also works for NBC and the Golf Channel as a communications and statistics assistant, recently working the 2018 British Open, Ryder Cup and numerous other tournaments during the PGA’s 2018 season.
