by - Assoc. Editor -

The Buffalo Bills announced that defensive end Shaq Lawson has been placed on the injured reserve on Tuesday and will miss the rest of the season.

Lawson was carted off the field with an ankle injury in the second half of the 23-3 loss to the New England Patriots.

He posted the following on Facebook on Tuesday night about his injury.

"Keep your head up God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers," Lawson posted. "Be back better than ever next year."

In 2017, Lawson had 33 tackles, two passes defended, a forced fumble, and a team-high four sacks. During his two-year NFL career, he has 46 tackles, two forced fumbles, and six sacks.

He was drafted by the Buffalo Bills with the 19th overall pick in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
