Report: ACC to add new bowl destinations in 2020 |
Stadium's Brett McMurphy reported Tuesday some new features to the ACC bowl structure among a series of shifts across college football in 2020.
The headliner is the ACC adding San Diego's Holiday Bowl to the fold. The ACC is set to replace the Big Ten out West in a matchup with the Pac-12 from 2020-25. The Gator Bowl will no longer rotate with the Music City for ACC teams and will feature an ACC-SEC matchup, while the Belk Bowl is still an ACC bowl and an opponent will come from the Big Ten or SEC in a partnership with the Las Vegas Bowl (years that an SEC team is in Vegas, the Big 10 will be in Charlotte and vice versa). The ACC also has a rotation set with the Outback Bowl in Tampa, which will rotate with the Big Ten when they have a representative in the Orange Bowl. Out of the ACC rotation is the Music City Bowl in Nashville. The ACC is tied with the SEC with 11 bowl tie-ins. McMurphy reports that Notre Dame will still have a place in the ACC bowl lineup if they do not make the Playoff.
