Four Tigers to play in the 'Spring League'

A new football league has popped up for football players that want to continue their careers and showcase their abilities to one day make it the NFL.

'The Spring League' is a developmental league and scouting event with four teams and the 2018 season will start on March 28 through April 13 in Austin, TX.

"At a time when the NFL has no developmental league, The Spring League is the closest thing to an apples-to-apples opportunity for players to get games reps," NBC Sports Mike Florio said. "It’s starting small, but that could be the smartest way to go."

Four Clemson football players were named to the East team with quarterback David Olsen, center Jay Guillermo, defensive lineman Roderick Byars, and safety Jadar Johnson.

Hawaii leads the way with five players participating in the league while Clemson, Baylor, and BYU are tied with four players.

Former Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel will also be playing in the league.

"We're excited to have such a dynamic player in Johhny Manziel taking part in The Spring League," Brian Woods, CEO of The Spring League, said in a statement. "We believe our platform is the ideal forum for Mr. Manziel to enact his NFL comeback."
