Clemson's Davis Sharpe was named a first-team freshman All-American by D1Baseball and Baseball America on Friday.

The Dacula, Georgia product earned the nod as a utility player, as a leader on Clemson's pitching staff with a 7-4 record and 3.20 ERA over 15 appearances and hitting .264 with 18 RBIs and three home runs at the plate.

Sharpe made second-team All-ACC as a pitcher this season.

Sharpe was drafted in the 34th round out of high school but opted to sign with the Tigers. He was rated the No. 7 freshman in the ACC by D1Baseball going into the season.
