Clemson was ranked No. 2 in the final Coaches Poll before the College Football Playoff.

The Tigers (1538 points) garnered two first-place votes to easily out-pace the rest for the No. 2 spot behind Alabama (62 first-place votes), with Notre Dame at No. 3 (1460 points) and Oklahoma at No. 4 (1375 points).

AP's projected Playoff would leave out Ohio State (1326 points) and Georgia (1316), as well as UCF (1218).

Former Clemson opponents check in at No. 17 (Syracuse) and No. 20 (Texas A&M).
