Why does the national media refuse to mention Kelly Bryant in the Heisman conversation? The kid has more then exceeded expectations and he has put up great numbers so far this season against two top 15 teams. If he played for Alabama he would be in the top 5 of every media members Heisman race. I don't know what else the kid has to do to at least be mentioned in the Heisman race.
The Heisman has a strange process. It seems there are pre-season candidates then early season candidates. Some fade and others emerge. I think Bryant is starting to see some national recognition, but he still needs to make a bigger move. First time starters have to do a lot to overcome names that the media are more familiar with. If Clemson plays well and Bryant continues to improve he will make some more impressions but I don't think he will be a candidate.
Is the success of Kelly Bryant having a impact on Trevor Lawrence staying committed to Clemson?
I doubt it. Lawrence chose Clemson even though he knew about Hunter Johnson. He was considering Georgia and they have Jacob Eason and Jake Fromm. The point is I don’t think Lawrence is scared of competition.
Mickey, first let me say I had the best away game experience in my 30+ years of Clemson football this past weekend. The Louisville fans were tremendous. They were welcoming and truly happy to see us, which is not very common in the ACC. Tip of the cap to them.
I saw the interview with Kelly B on TigerNet and I have to say he has handled all of the Deshaun comparisons with class; another tip of the cap. However, it's time to let Deshaun go and make this about Kelly B. I have to admit I was skeptical over the summer, but he has proven to me he can deliver. This is his team now and we all need to support him. I read an article that said Clemson might be better than last year. I think we are better than last year and Kelly B is a big part of that. I hope the comparison questions start to fade.
I have been to Louisville twice and have had a great experience both times. There is a lot to do and the people were accommodating.
I think the team has moved on. Deshaun was so good that he will have a presence around here for a while, but Kelly has handled everything very well. His teammates respect him and it shows.
I am not sure this team is better than a season ago, but I am willing to have that conversation. They are better through three games, but this is a long season. Let's revisit this in a few weeks.
