Sunday Clemson Football Notes |
Injury update
Todd McClinton, DT, suffered a sprained neck against Maryland. Was taken to the Oconee Memorial Hospital in Seneca after he was taken from the field on a cart. All tests were negative. He was back in the Clemson training room today and attended the Clemson team meeting on Sunday afternoon wearing a neck brace. His status for the South Carolina game will be updated later in the week. Nick Eason, DT, aggravated achilles tendon, played just 32 snaps against Maryland. Questionable for South Carolina Rony Delusme, SS, out for the rest of the year with a torn ACL suffered against Maryland. Cedric Johnson, OG, suffered pinched nerve in his left shoulder. Like McClinton, also came to Clemson team meeting on Sunday in a neck brace. Questionable for South Carolina. If he can not start, Nathan Gillespie will make his first career start in his place. Travis Pugh, DB, pulled groin muscle against Maryland, questionable. Chad Jasmin, RB, missed Maryland game with pulled groin muscle. Should return for South Carolina. Other notes: Clemson cornerback Justin Miller is now fifth in the nation in interceptions with seven in 11 games. He is just one away from the national leader. His seven interceptions are tied for second best for a season in Clemson history. Record is 8 by Robert O'Neal in 1989. Miller now has a 37.5 average on 10 kickoff returns. If he had enough attempts he would lead the nation in that category. He is three attempts short. Aaron Hunt is now 11th in the nation in the nation in field goals per game after his 4-4 performance against Maryland. He is 15-18 for the season and now 35-46 for his career. He has made 15 of his last 16. Clemson is now 10th in the nation in kickoff returns. The Tigers are 15th in passing defense and lead the nation in that category.
