Davis Allen isn’t sure what the 2019 season will hold but he’s ready for whatever comes his way.

Allen is a 2019 tight end commit (now player) out of Calhoun (GA) that was rated as the 15th-best tight end-H Back in the nation by ESPN.com. Davis put together a strong senior season at Calhoun, where he was the Region 6 AAA Defensive Player of the Year, was first-team all-region on offense and defense, first-team Chattanooga All-Area, and the County Defensive Player of the Year.

Allen also played linebacker in high school but will make the permanent move to tight end with the Tigers. He moved in this week and told TigerNet recently that he spent the entire spring shaping his body and enters Clemson at 6-5, 240.

“You know, I have tried to hit the weight room as hard as I can and put myself in the best possible position before I get to Clemson,” Allen said. “I have really been focusing on what I need to work on, which is everything. And trying to prepare for the future.”

Allen said tight ends coach Danny Pearman’s message has been simple.

“It's been pretty much the same message all along,” Allen said. “Work as hard as possible in the weight room and be in the best shape I can be reporting to camp. He told me to keep doing my thing and keep working as hard as I can.”

Clemson will be without tight end Braden Galloway this season and lost Cannon Smith and Milan Richard to graduation. However, he isn’t sure how Galloway’s absence will affect his spot on the depth chart.

“I really don't know how that will affect me. I found about Braden and I hated it,” Allen said. “I was around him a few times in the recruiting process and he seems like a really good guy. I am looking forward to becoming friends with him and knowing him more. I just hate it for him. I don't know how that affects me, but I want to make sure I am in the best position I can be in and whatever I need to do to help the team, I'll do.”

Which game is he most excited about?

“I think its Georgia Tech, and then I think Texas A&M will be amazing,” Allen said. “But Georgia Tech because that is the first game and so it's the big one. I come from near the Atlanta area and there are a bunch of Georgia and Georgia Tech fans down here. My grandfather was a huge Georgia Tech fan, so I think that is probably the biggest game for me. It's the one I am the most excited about.”

He said he’s also excited about the chance to run down the hill as a player.

“It will be a blessing. I will be as nervous as all get out,” Allen said. “I think it will be an amazing experience. I am very blessed and very thankful to have that opportunity.”
