SALEM, Va. – An infield single by Micah Owings broke a 6-6 tie in the 13th inning and top-seeded Georgia Tech went on to defeat Clemson 11-7 Thursday night in the ACC Tournament. Patterson singled leading off the 13th and stole second. After a groundout, Steven Blackwood was intentionally walked and Owings hit a slow grounder to third. Clemson third baseman Brad McCann considering throwing home but instead threw wildly to first. Patterson scored on the play. Brandon Boggs was then intentionally walked by Patrick Hogan (2-3) to load the bases. A three-run double by Clifton Remole and a RBI single by Whit Robbins made the score 11-6. Clemson managed a run off John Goodman (4-1) in the bottom of the 13th, but the Yellow Jacket held on for their 19th consecutive win.

Georgia Tech (40-17) will play Florida State for a slot into the championship game. The Tigers (35-23) will play N.C. State in an elimination game at 10AM. Clemson rallied for 3 runs in the ninth off starter Owings to send the game into extra innings. Up to that point he had not allow any hits since the second inning. A three-run homer by McCann in the first inning put the Tigers up 3-0.
