what is different about Loserville in their last 3 games

Sep 13, 2017, 1:11 PM

last season?

Can someone with good football knowledge give us a technical analysis as to why they lost badly towards the end of the season but they will were playing well at the beginning? Was it injury, burned out, or teams figured them out?

"Clemson Is Coming" says Stephone Anthony (Class 2011)"
"Why NOT Clemson"
"Why Not Dabo"

The look about the same but with less skill position talent. I'm not seeing these improvements they're saying.

They weren't going to the ACCCG or the playoffs.

Some of UL's players showed their lack of character by quitting on their team and teammates. If any of them played for us they'd still be riding the bench.

Not an "expert" but from what I saw it was a little of all the above.

Bobby Petrino never plays many players, and seems to rep mostly his starters because it allows him to install a big playbook.

That means his teams tend to be good at the beginning of the season - when we always tend to get them - and by the end they're banged up, beat up, and gimping, and losing games to teams like Kentucky.

Also, people figured out Lamar Jackson's weaknesses and started blitzing the @#$% out of him. The book on him prior was just "contain" because bliting somebody that elusive was considered dangerous, but Tom Herman and Houston showed he doesn't handle the blitz well for as amazingly mobile as he is. Especially if you disguise it he tends to struggle picking it up, and if you press his receivers at the line it really messes up the timing throws he likes to make. You'd better believe Venables was paying attention and will bring heat from everywhere on him this time around...and will also beat his receivers up at the line to the fullest extend of the rules, and maybe an inch past that....

they struggled vs Purdue and UNC, two bad teams.

No difference except they found a way to win.

From what I recall...

Houston just kinda shell shocked them on a Thursday night and their O-line had one of the worst nights in the history of college football. I think Louisville last year was having a great season and ran into that wall of not being ready for the big time yet.

The Kentucky game...they had a lot of turnovers and UK played pretty offensively the whole game..which Kentucky had one of the better running games in the SEC last year and hit on several big throws downfield. UK was playing with a lot of confidence last year and the magnitude of that loss was overstated some.

LSU just hammered them with a dominant run game and I believe Jackson was actually playing hurt. LSU was likely the best defense (maybe us?) they played last year and there was the emotional factor of Oregeron getting that job and his guys playing for him in his first game as a coach. Also, you have to think there was also a letdown in player moral after the way they fell off in the regular season.

This years team and the coaches learned alot from last year I'd think.

Worse than giving up 11 sacks? ;)***

Houston wore them down last year and exposed them as mentioned above. I think about this moment when someone mentions that game.

Simply put, they quit.

Once it became apparent they're weren't going to the ACCCG or the College Football Playoffs, they mailed it in.

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.
