Well, I'm coming from a completely different viewpoint & probably will be sincerely criticized for it! However, I'm no expert on the Coronavirus, but several experts have already been proven wrong on several fronts. I'm not trying to belittle the seriousness of the virus & am extremely saddened by the deaths associated with it. But from day one, I believed the COVID threat has been overplayed by the media and by the politicians on both the Left and Right.
Based on evidence I've read and experienced, college football players should be studied for potential "herd immunity" attributes. They are a relatively low threat group: they're young; they're healthy; they are working outdoors or in relatively clean facilities; they are being housed in clean environments; they're closely monitored by expert medical professionals; they're well-fed by expert nutritionists; their coaching staffs have set up what looks like a well-planned environment with: regular testing; immediately quarantining of both infected individuals & individuals that have been in contact with them. Last I heard, none of the Clemson players had health issues when & after being infected; and the majority have already come out of the quarantining process.
Frankly, if the college football players are supportive (and I believe they would be enthusiastically supportive participants), college football should be pushing strongly for a controlled exposure of all their players to COVID. Rather than accusing teams of a conspiracy to win at all costs, I (for one) would be enthusiastically applauding their efforts to move on for dealing with the COVID threat head-on! Of course, I suspect the media & politcians would totally unsupportive of any kind of initiative to attack problems.

I do not believe there is a conspiracy, but I have to believe this thought has crossed many coaches' minds. It crossed mine before reading about it...
It clearly is better for everyone to get it now, especially if most don't even show symptoms.

although, most coaches are not so dumb as to suggest it even if they think it... there are a few outliers that just might suggest it to their players, but everybody better realize that herd immunity is not proven to prevent future diagnoses, and also that overall good/excellent health is not the be all end all to being asymptomatic or even a minimizer to symptoms. The real issue will always be the continual spread to others.
That herd immunity theory has gotten some players to think that they won't have future diagnoses if they get it now, but they are also not considering that long term effects on kidneys, pancreas, lungs, lymph nodes, etc are not known and could possibly lead to worse case scenarios in the short and long term... for all of those who consider Covid-19 to be not much more than and have the same type of effects as the flu, always remember that people do catch the flu every outbreak even though they have had it before and/or gotten flu shots. so, if Covid is nothing more than the flu, it's likely to behave like the flu but with greater detriment and fatalities...

Once again, that is just stupid. Yes, there are 85 players on scholarship at all the schools but did Boomer think about coaches, weight staff, trainers, managers, university faculty and staff, students, etc and etc. Over 1700 cases again in SC today so that can't be all football players. No Minor League baseball in the country this year. University Presidents need to step up and go ahead and say no football.

Well since college age, or younger, people are literally more likely to die from being hit by lightning than from Covid, it does make some sense to go ahead and get it now to avoid it messing up your season. The reality is that we are almost all going to get it at some point no matter how many masks we wear so why not try to manage how and when you get it to do the least damage to your health and career. Its far better for these players to get it in school surrounded by team physicians than to get it at home when they are on their own.
