Because Elon is now enemy #1 (for taking money out of democrats pockets) he is still being loathed.
It’s sickening.

We want Musk to be safe so he can rip the Government apart piece by piece. Death of the waste and fraud by a thousand slices.
He'll get a party when his work is done.

He could have easily just stayed out of the public spotlight and kept accumulating all the money in the world with people believing him a Tony Stark-level genius. Instead, he buys Twitter, goes MAGA and shows the world he's an average IQ, emotional manbaby who throws up Sieg Heils, and who rumors say, has a deformed d!ck from a botched ##### enlargement surgery.
Hilarious and almost tragic that Elon and Trump are MAGA's leaders.

TESLA was already in trouble, the competition is heating up in EV market, so he has been making bold and wild claims about going to mars, and self driving taxis. He was being investigated for fraud as I recall, now he does not have to worry about that. He needs to step down as CEO of TESLA and focus on something else, it is an American brand that needs saving, and his removal would be a good start. I imagine his shareholders and BOD agree.

space race capable of getting them.
Musk's achievements in EV technology were enough to make folks see him as a climate change (game) changer.
I do think he's just trying to help. When he started to swing right - he noticed the social media folks were controlling information and that they were leaning left. So - he bought them.
He is getting overly right-wing though. And he doesn't need to make fun of folks as he's laying them off.

Maybe he should give up his Space X contract(s) to one of the others. If he did, the astronauts may end up getting social security and retirement direct deposits while they're orbiting earth.

What's the transparency we have, besides what Elon tweets? Any independent or outside auditors confirming the things he says? Hell, anybody internal that can confirm if anything he says is true?
Kinda shocking behavior from what is the most transparent agency in history according to Elon and Trump, wouldn't you say?

How would Boeing Starliner exist without government contracts? At least Space X can get the job done start to finish.
Did Musk cut Boeing's NASA contracts?

for saving those astronauts. For creating a viable electric vehicle. For his Starlink technology. For finding waste and eliminating it.
But he had to be an a$$ about all of it. He had to be brash and rude and insulting. Insulting other foreign leaders. Calling a military vet Senator a traitor. Insulting all democrats.
He chose his path and was not as a uniting hero figure.

my entire life, and I’m no spring chicken.
But setting aside the obviously juvenile response of “they started it”…how exactly did THEY start it?
Senator Kelly? President Zelensky? Canada…in total?
You see, it is precisely BECAUSE I’m conservative that I have such utter disdain for Trump and why I am so frustrated with Musk.
Close the borders? Push back in the “woke” ideology? Cut government waste?
Fantastic.
But these blithering fools had to turn it into a circus, mock the constitution, mock every ally we have, insult everyone they could.
I have always said, and if you’re paying attention you know, Trump does not respect the office of the Presidency. He has no comprehension or concern for what the role represents. Oh, he gets the power. But the broader responsibility of temporarily holding the highest office in the land is not a concept he concerns himself with.

This sh!+ has been accepted for years and you don't have the stomach for calling a spade a spade. Canada steals from us, Zelenskyy and his country leaders are corrupt, and Kelly, I have my opinion but he would never get my vote if I lived in AZ. After the smoke cleared between Musk and Kelly, Musk took the high road unlike Kelly. Kelly is acting childish now, while Musk moved on to launch Space X to deliver and pick up astronauts. When will Kelly thank Musk for taking care of his fellow astronauts?

Did Elon take the high road? I never saw that. Can you link to it? Did he ever explain why he would call the Senator a traitor?
I don’t see how Canada “steals” from us. They have a trade imbalance…that’s not their fault. They have high tariffs that come in after a certain threshold. No one has ever quantified the costs to the US of those policies. It could be zero. It could be a few million. Certainly a topic for conversation. Otherwise, both sides apply moderate tariffs.
Zelenskyy is not corrupt in any context that should allow Putin (SIGNIFICANTLY more corrupt) to invade his country.

This wasn’t a rescue mission. They’re not coming home on that craft. They could have come back as early as September but stayed to be integrated into the crew and work until replacements arrived.
They are leaving on the craft they could have left on in September.
But lemme guess… you bought into Trump and Elon’s lies.
The only parade he’ll deserve is the one after he and his fat orange VP are deposed.

Every media outlet calls them stranded. They are coming back on a SpaceX emergency craft… so still have to thank Musk. They had to bring the other craft back unmanned - because it wasn’t safe.
If they had used that craft earlier they would have left everyone else with no lifeboat - like if someone suddenly gets seriously ill…

The ISS has other means of emergency exits other than just the Space X craft.
When they send up the Dragon in September, the seats were custom made for those two astronauts. It was never intended to be a life-raft for the station.
Let's look at what Musk even said:
Even he said the astronauts could have been returned much earlier, and lied that our government wouldn't let him. NASA has called BS on this and would have like to bring them back earlier.

but I'll defer to your advanced knowledge.
It does seem though that SpaceX is the only one that can reliably get those folks (and others) down.
For the record - I do think Trump/Musk are a heavy lean to the unhinged side - but I do acknowledge that Musk's efforts in Space and EV-ish things have been a huge plus for us Earth-bound folks.

And you don't have to be sarcastic.
It IS a lifeboat but it is not the ONLY lifeboat nor is Space X their only option. That's the point. They could have left; they and NASA chose not to. Musk did not rescue them. He is not a hero. And he and Trump spread lies about this situation for politics.
My "advanced knowledge" was simply reading up on this.

You can be a troll, or you can be a national hero.
Just like you can be a troll, or you can be a businessman.
It's really, really hard to be both. In particular when people see the world's richest man punching down and acting like a middle school bully, making Nazi salutes, and sh!tposting incessantly online, a significant portion of the population - not you, of course - is really not going to like it. When that portion of the population also happens to be the target demo - white, educated, progressive - it also means you're not going to sell them a lot of electric vehicles.
Just how it goes. You don't get to act like the kind of asshat Elon has and then snivel about how the world's being all unfair to you.
By the way - Elon is going to have SpaceX taken away from him unless he has a come-to-Jesus moment. It's a vital strategic national resource and his behavior has been...erratic, to say the least, and it's getting worse. It's an open secret at this point he's a substance abuser and if he doesn't get a handle on it any government not run by Donald Trump would have already been talking about forcing him out as CEO and giving control to someone else, most likely SpaceX's actual boss, Gwynne Shotwell, who is neither erratic nor unhinged and who has the respect top-to-bottom of both the company and greater space industry.
Elon's the moneyman. Shotwell is the one making it happen, and every company and space agency on the planet would love to have her. Careful, Elon.
