FAU tried to do everything they could to give us the game with walks, errors and hit batters. The one hit was a slow roller between the mound and ss. Actually it was an oops swing. The other hit I would have scored an E-5... but softball is liberal with scoring. Personally I think the 3rd baseman lost the pop-up but whatever. As I said in another thread, it took us until the 5th inning to even hit a ball, shallow left field sacrifice fly, out of the infield. A decent throw our gal gets thrown out at the plate. It was really shallow. The other pop-up fly to shallow right ended the game in t7.

So 2 balls in 21 outs made it past the infield. You would think we were playing Oklahoma best pitcher. Horry Tiger 2 said we needed patience with this team. I would have plenty if this was team one. Team 6, not so much. It's not like we didn't know players were graduating. It's not like we had a lot of transfers. I think maybe 1 transfer? Zero planning. Our big off-season move to aquire our Ace #1 pitcher was a grad student from a small fcs team. Good job Rittman.

Rittman didn't really 'rock the world' with his Stanford talent when coaching the Cardinal.

No Cagle = Not very good. It's as simple as that. Prepare for a very long frustrating season. Coaching change within the next 2 years. It's coming. Rittman was not chosen for the long haul, he was brought in to build the program and get the logistics running. We will now hire younger and will establish long term success.

Better get use to it because I am afraid it’s going to be a long year for this team. Rittman should have used the immediate success & excitement this program created from its inception & used that momentum as a catalyst for recruiting really good talent while Clemson was a hot new name in softball. But his recruiting classes have been just okay & kinda lack luster. Without the generational talent of Valerie Cagle this team is probably going to be very mediocre.

Playing a lot of true freshman. Back to back games with a 3 error inning shows lack of talent or focus. Out hitting is just bad technique. It has become a staple of Rittman’s tenure. Way too many foul balls and lazy swings. Lack of confidence. Anyone know who’s the hitting coach? I thought they brought in some technology guy? Doesn’t seem to be impacting anything yet.
