very stupid people.
I guess our nation gets what we deserve. As a group we are fat, lazy, getting more stupid every day, entitled, getting more corrupt every day, etc. etc. etc.
The recipe that will turn the USA into just another country in a generation or two. Unfortunately, the leftists will have rewritten history so much that the "good 'ol" days of the late 70s and 80s-90s-00s will be erased from all memory.
The way it will be, will be the way it always has been (according to the elites that will be running the government) - and that way will be $hitty.

narratives they decide they want us to believe, that CNN is close to being a state run media (call Fox that when a pub is in office if you like), and that "follow the science" is meaningless if one is getting that 'science' from media, including scientists talking on media.
As long as all of that is out in the open, that "1984" is fast coming and is mostly here already, fine. Most people will follow their favorite outlet to wherever it takes them anyway, but I'm willing to say it's all a lie, one motivated by a very few people who have evil motives.

Also, most people's misunderstanding of the media boils down to a misunderstanding of capitalism. There's nothing "state run".

Is they'll squeal over this clip (which some of the quotes are edited without context or knowing exactly what topic is discussed) but think nothing of Fox doing it.
What, cable news is politically biased? Duh. We knew that. "Fear sells" is something that broadcast has known for many decades.
Hell, some talk show host has Tulsa duped and fearful that "1984" is coming without having even read the book.

What you don't get is that most of us still engage in the MSM (abc, cbs, nbc) and because we also have awareness of the "other sides of the stories' we see how fvcked up the MSM is, and how stupid you are for not being objective.
We don't only get our news from Fox. I could have never watched a minute of Fox news, and I would still be calling BS on about 75% of every MSM "news" broadcast.
When did Fox start becoming popular? I would guess the media bias books came out years before Fox was popular. But, you wouldn't know that would you because you are a dumb a$$ sheep like the rest of them that sit there and take it in without thinking.

It's lazy news watching for lazy people. And those networks know it. They know people who don't want to take the time to read and research will just soak in the confirmation bias crap cable news spews feeds them. They know bars will leave it running all night.
Cable news could easily be changed by the consumer, but they know the American consumer is too lazy and too biased to take the time to do real news research. There's no state-run conspiracy; this is pure capitalism, baby. This is the McDonald's of news shoving Big Macs down your throat and begging you to supersize the fries.
And then y'all cry about it because the channel you chose is, you know, somehow above it but the others are the evil MEDIA!
Be honest. How often do you watch Tucker?

Just get a room with five asssholes in it and have them fight about politics for an hour. It's way cheaper than having correspondents all over the country and around the world digging up actual news stories and doing investigative reporting.

Actual reporting of news, however detailed one wants to get, requires only so much time each day. To instead go at it 24/7 requires a collection of additional motivations, from audience size to ideological agenda. So you get all sorts of things, like people just sitting and talking.
Not that any of us do that.

I tend to forget that cable news exists.
I may have had Fox News on for a total of 15 minutes over the past year, and 0 minutes for CNN and MSNBC (I chose a cable package that doesn't include them).

the bend the networks have. But to voluntarily turn the channels on, to listen to those people give opinions all day, with the clear purpose of division...that's just not something at all tempting for me.
The only time I watch the channels at all is to see the maps on Election night, because I like the maps and the math.

anywhere else, truth be known. Cable went long ago, and I use youtubetv during football season. I used to click on the apple news feed - it comes with ipad - but I deleted it months ago. Whatever happens, happens. There is a narrowing set of things I need to be informed about at the detail level, and I know where to get that info.

Sorry to keep crapping on you, but good God, your posts:
"I am super informed on how the world works. This is the way things are. We are headed towards 1984. I know exactly how the media industry works. BTW, I also admit I don't consume much information and get most of my news from a site that specializes in Clemson football and dirty jokes."

Lemme make sure I've got it for all in this thread...
-This proves the media shouldn't be trusted, but we should blindly trust a partisan fringe website that has to get quotes by setting up fake blind dates. Then they only give us snippets of the quotes without any transcript or context, and in some cases, add in names for pronouns.
-OP has no problem with Fox News doing the exact thing but with helping Trump and trying to get Dems out of office.
-People are shocked CNN isn't pro-Trump.
-And, well, 1984?
Did I get it all?
