Recruiting This Week PT: 1

May 9, 2021, 5:44 PM

Hello all, first update of the week so let's get started.

By this point Clemson generally has an idea of where they are going with each position and which players they have a chance with, just based on the number of players that they offer. One position where the board has yet to crystallize is DE. Clemson is involved with many and they are a in a good position with most of them, but a clear picture has yet to be painted.

Targets: Rank based on 247 composite.

5* Shemar Stewart: Not a lot of updates on Stewart in recent months. LSU has been the favorite for quite some time and I would give them the edge, with UGA, Clemson, and A&M in the next group. This is one where Clemson will get an idea of where they stand once visits are announced.

5* Jeremiah Alexander: I mentioned in my last update that Alexander will be on campus on June 1st. Alexander will also not decide until later in the cycle, and Clemson will need to convince him that they are one of the schools that should get his officials in the Fall. I really like where Clemson is, but being in state Alabama has to be the favorite, and I would honestly have to see him leave for me to believe it.

4* Enai White: He recently released a top 8 list tonight that included Clemson. He already has 4 officials planned in June to Florida, OSU, UGA, and Alabama. He said that if Clemson was offering officials in the Summer they would have definitely received on of those visits. He is saving that 5th official visit for later if he chooses to commit in the Fall, and that would give Clemson the last crack at him. I have painted this as a Bama/UGA battle based on what I have heard, despite some liking OSU. However, after talking with a few people Clemson is way more involved here than I originally thought. White is going to become a player to watch way more over the next few months.

4* Cyruss Moss: I really like where Clemson is with Moss at this moment in time. Not a lot of new news on him, and there will not be for a few months. He will not decide until later in the cycle and will take official visits in the Fall. Clemson would be in his top 3 with ASU and Oregon.

4* Kenyatta Jackson: Will be going to OSU, OU, and Oregon in the month of June. This has long been a Clemson vs. OSU battle but the other two teams have done a good job getting his attention. I believe that Jackson plans on committing before his season, which may mean that he will not be able to visit Clemson. However, I believe that Clemson would be able to draw a Fall official and have the chance to flip him if they so choose.

4* J'mond Tapp: If you have been reading the updates constantly this is a new name that I am bringing to your attention. Trapp has scheduled a visit to Clemson on June 5th. I do not have a lot of info on him because he is a new development; however, he is from Louisiana, so adjust expectations accordingly.

4* Jihaad Campbell: Campbell jumped about 300 spots when 247 did their last update in rankings as he has been getting more and more attention. Luckily for Clemson they have been on Campbell longer than anyone. Credit to the staff for identifying before other teams. However, now you have to fend off the big buys. He has a visit scheduled to Clemson on June 8th. Outside of Clemson watch Florida, UGA, A&M, and OU. I think that Clemson leads heading into visits.

4* DJ Wesolak: If I had to pick one guy that could commit first it would be Wesolak. He plans on attending the Elite Retreat in June. Also involved are ASU, Bama, UGA, and few other SEC schools.

-If you could not tell there were two common themes. 1. Clemson is in a good spot with almost every prospect mentioned. 2. Most will not decide until later in the cycle. As a result Clemson has to decide if they are willing to wait and take the risk on of the higher ranked guys in the Fall.

-5* Safety Keon Sabb has planned a visit to Clemson on June 11th, which I am sure most saw here from a nice article by David Hood. As he mentioned PSU, UGA, Oregon, A&M, and LSU are all involved. A team that seems to have faded is Bama, as I once thought that they were Clemson's top opposition, but as we have seen they can crank it up at anytime.

I forgot to mention one guy on the DE board. Beau Atkinson out of NC will be visiting Clemson June 10th. He does not yet hold an offer so this will simply be a chance to earn an offer.

Last reply I swear,

Arch Manning will be camping at Clemson in June. Look for the update on Wednesday and we will go into detail.
