No idea what's going on behind the scenes with NIL but it does obviously make an impact to have a proven position coach or coordinator when you're trying to sell yourself to these kids.

Yea, the OP doesn’t have any idea what is going on behind the scenes with NIL either, but this fits his mission in life, so he will run with it and take his shots at Dabo wherever he can get them.

I know that Dabo has drastically changed his NIL approach.
Jun 6, 2025, 1:51 PM
|
|
Initially, Dabo was resistant to NIL being part of the high school recruiting package, using NIL to retain current players rather than getting new ones.
Now we are using NIL as part of what is offered to high school (and now transfer portal!) players. This is perhaps the biggest key to our improved recruiting lately.
If you think our recruiting has improved this much just because of the coaches we have, you're living in fantasy land. These days, it mostly comes down to the money for players.

Winning the ACC in football doesn't really mean much these days.
Jun 6, 2025, 2:01 PM
|
|
As you know, the ACC is not regarded as a premier football conference.
Players today want to play and win at a high level, receive good coaching, get the exposure they desire, and maximize their NIL.
More important than our ACC title last year was our 0-3 record versus the SEC, including an average margin of defeat 16 points in those games, as well as our best win being over SMU.

It's happening in Bkball also. Clemso paid Freshman Zac Foster plus $300K for NIL because he was projected as a top 75 player by the time he signed. He actually is ranked #53 by On3 recruiting service now. Why don't you ever state that?

It's common knowledge, and it is one reason why our basketball program has been so successful recently.
There is nothing wrong with making NIL part of the recruiting pitch. It is what great teams do, and it is what our football team should've been doing from the start. Nonetheless, I'm glad we are doing it now.

The Clemson Athletic Branding Institute for NIL was a pioneer in the NIL world.
NIL has never been an issue for us.
You’re making things up like usual, just so you can get attention. Even negative attention works for you. That’s a loser.

because of our indoor slide, family atmosphere, and new coaches you are living in fantasyland.
I know this goes against your ideal that we are little 'ol Clemson, disadvantaged and poor, boostrapping our success to beat the big boys who have more money and power. This is surely a lot for you to come to terms with.
The reality is that we have had to adapt our recruiting strategy to move it into the modern era of NIL. Kudos to Dabo for doing that. Having better coaches and recruiters certainly helps, but offering a better and more competitive incentive package to recruits has been a game changer.

was not leading with NIL the reason David Sanders didn't end up at Clemson, seemed he liked clemson the most he visited uga ohio state and TN, i just remember most people seemed to think it was because we didn't recruit with NIL at the time.

I love that its making you scrunch your tighty whities at every commitment! When is the last time Brownell could get this much "star" power to even sniff Clemson? Dabo has consistently been able to get the "stars" to Clemson, whether the committed or not! Has Brownell? Dabo has landed more than his fair share, has Brownell? Maybe instead of trying to troll, you should be happy, I promise you I, and this board would be rejoicing if the basketball program started landing top tier talent! Of course, I understand, the better the football team does, the better chance it dims Brownells star, and that is what grates you!

I am thrilled with our improved recruiting lately in football. It's great to see Dabo and staff fully utilizing all options, including NIL and the transfer portal. This is what it takes to be elite these days, and a big reason why we haven't been in half a decade.
Not really sure what Brownell has to do with anything, other than a salve for your wounded pride over Dabo's shortcomings. But to answer your question, Brownell has expertly utilized NIL and the transfer portal to improve our program. We can all be proud of that, especially since he has done so while still being true to the guiding principles of the program with regard to integrity, academic success, and community involvement.
Brad's example with Clemson basketball can give Dabo confidence that it is possible to better utilize NIL and the portal while still having the kind of program that represents Clemson well on and off the field. I say that because it seemed for a while that Dabo was hesitant for that reason.

Except, Clemson football does not offer NIL money for recruiting. It is offered for retention, but it’s large amounts of money to keep the talent on the roster. Not that it matters because the revenue sharing is what’s bringing the recruits in and that’s separate from NIL money. Thank you, Dabo, for not changing a darn thing.
GO TIGERS!

None of this would be happening if Neff had not given Brownie another BIG 6 year contract extension. That put the pressure on Dabo to get better at recruiting or get left behind in the next 6 years by Brownie. Dabo even went out and recruited one of Brownies srar players...Cheff.

More about solid position coaches in my opinion. I think the money is and has always been there. Sounds like everyone is going to eventually get paid in the near future anyways.
Matt Luke needs a raise. Cannot ever remember OL recruiting like this at Clemson.

You can't help yourself, can you?
You are the worst enemy for Clemson Basketball Fans on this site.
NIL is helping Clemson Football as well as Clemson Basketball.
Did you hear how much Clemson paid for Girard, Lakhin and Davidson? Also had to pay a lot to keep Chase Hunter and Shieff for their senior basketball season at Clemson.
Clemson is doing that for Football as well...
You are just a real troll fest...

What makes recruiting work is kids reading about Clemson being a top contender and seeing all the championship trophies. Our football program is special in those regards. Good thing baseball, soccer, and softball have trophy cases that aren’t empty either! If only basketball could find a way to catch up!!!

Media predictions of us being a contender don't really move the needle much, but do you know what does? A competitive financial package being offered, similar to what the elite prospects are receiving from Georgia, Ohio State, etc.
