a huge turnaround at USF next year. In the modern Me, NOW world, Jeff Scott probably at least needs to make a bowl to save his job, maybe even more than a break even season might be required.

Well you kind of have to believe that Jeff Scotts team just got better. All those names that left our program, and committed to Jeff's program, all of them I think were solid 2nd, 3d teamers, and I believe that Ajou will thrive with some Jeff Scott coaching!!!
I'm happy for all those guys, and they couldn't have made a better second choice with Jeff for their HC!!!

I hope Ajou is successful in the same way that I want any human being to be successful but at the same time am not happy for him in this situation. Our program needs 2nd and 3rd string players for depth and also to make practice work. We currently DON’T have a third string at WR.
Beyond that, the wording of his post and the hashtags used insinuate that the Clemson staff is holding him back or unfairly targeting him. Based on his play on the field, he couldn’t learn the playbook, how to block, or how to catch the football. He was benched for people the coaches could trust.

I don’t see why they would need to be better than a bow game

Sure his start has been bad but going from 2-10 to 6/6 or 7-5 would be a big improvement. They can’t realistically expect him to go to 9-3 or 10-2 all of a sudden.

This day and age 6-6 or 7-5 gets you in a bowl game. I don’t agree with 40 bowls but that is the world we live in.

Especially when he was part of their recruitment and they gave a good go at Clemson. I only wish Jeff and all those transfers success. 2 of those 3 were probably G5 players to start with but had a great upside. They could have stayed and grown at Clemson or in the immediate gratification era, they likely start next year with the transfer.
I think you have 3 types of transfers that affect the P5 teams like Clemson. You have the 5* primma's that are problems in the locker room and don't think they should work to play. Are more trouble than needed.
2nd are the players we recruit that are actually probably G5 players but coaches see an upside and hope they contribute in yrs 3-5. Only thing is now, players don't want to wait to develop, again immediate gratification and this is going to hurt Dabo's philosophy because this is how he built his legacy by developing lower star players into contributing NFL potential guys.
The 3rd will be a player at FCS or a lower FBS school that has been a proven stud that Dabo may consider taking if he has a couple yrs left. Other than that, I don't see Dabo taking players just to fill schollies. Unfortunately, that philosophy is gonna have to change because we can't lose 9 players to TP, many more to graduation and draft then only recruit 12 players.
I think we are on verge of having a shortage of players which should never be the case with our recent success. I think the staff got a little too greedy and tight with offers. Then add in the friends and family schollies and it put us behind in the talent pool especially when injuries hit the top players.

He’s great at building programs up. Just hope he’s not too distracted from his day job at Clemson.

It seems to me that the coaches could have designed a few plays for this obviously talented player to learn and execute. I know he was raw and inexperienced but surely he could have been utilized in some way so that he felt he had a future as a Tiger. I wish him well and hope he fulfills his promise.

He couldn’t learn to block, and couldn’t seem to learn the routes in the plays we had.
So instead, the coaches should have broken down what routes he likes to run and then build plays around that?

Seriously!
Can’t scheme around the basic stuff like that.
Running the correct routes and blocking are table stakes.
Got to be able to do one of those two things well to have a chance to be on the field.
Wish him the best, but not sure he can help USF until he gets better at the fundamentals

Dude is a project type player. If not for the injuries ect this year, he never would have stepped foot on the field. This was his 2nd year ever playing football. You can have the frame and all the athletic ability in the world, but he's YEARS away from being an actual football player. Honestly, I think it helps the Tigers with him moving on. Opens up a spot for someone that is not a liability on every play. Again, wish him the best, and maybe Scott can coach him up, but IMO it's not a loss for us at all.

I don't think any of our wr had terrific stats this yrs. Maybe he couldn't read route because the qb not reading the right route who knows?

I guess what I mean is: you know when you sign him that he has had very limited exposure to football. One or two years of playing vs. ten or more years for an average recruit. You should know you are going to have to treat him differently in order to utilize his talent in the limited time that he is in the program. You can't expect him to know what these other kids know, based on the time of exposure to the sport. Dabo said time after time what a freak athlete he is. So, all I'm saying is give him a chance to succeed, in order to keep him interested until his knowledge catches up with his physical ability.

Lots of "He couldn't block" as a way to rationalize a WR loss. I thought he looked good when the ball was thrown his way. Which was rare. But he pulled it down. I blame this on coaching decisions. If he's struggling to block, then put him in for pass plays and use that weapon. He's huge, shouldn't have been an issue to coach up his blocking. Dabo addressed Ajou losing time and said "what were seeing, he's been passed on depth chart." They clearly benched him in the last part of the season, and we should've seen this coming. But thats in the past. Is it possible Jeff Scott is contacting these guys and saying "come play for me?"

I couldn't be happier or transfers, who are not getting the playing time they desire, going to other schools (minus SC) and giving it a go. I for one, pulled for Chez every weekend and watched his success and loved it. That said, if you depart like with hashtags like his (entitlement, sarcasm, elitist attitude) I will not pull for your success. Clemson means to much to me as a fan, graduate and donor to every support those that leave with type of attitude. They will not represent us in a positive light nor will I do the same for them. I will stop short of wishing ill will for him but certainly will not pull for him, even if he can help Jeff Scott. We will see how he pans out and what football pays him. Graduating from Clemson and the connections are worth a mint if you parlay it correctly. Tootles Ajou!
