And I never disagreed with that. I reported my experienced from there recently, and like usual, those lacking reading comprehension or those who wanted to be intentionally obtuse misstated what I claimed. One even falsely claimed I was in the nice touristy area, which was BS (Union Square has its problems AND it's right by Tenderloin, which I also ventured into).

I didn't call it some paradise. I could see problems with my own eyes. It was just wasn't this Mecca of street ######## like everyone claimed. I wasn't approached or harassed by a single homeless person although I saw many. It doesn't mean I thought the city was safe or in good shape. It's just not the cesspool that bumpkins who never venture out of Piedmont or Cayce or Gaffney want you to think it is just because Fox News told em it is. At least, not from what I saw.

I spent time in Haight-Ashbury, which I thought was nice. I know that's different from other areas of the city.

So, we still have clowns shoes every now and then posting something about San Fran to reference my past post because it bruised their tainted view of the world.

I have been to Union square recently, I was there a few weeks ago. I took the grandkids to shopping and walked all over the area. Had lunch in the The Square

I used to work down there (Market & Powell) that’s the famed cable car turnaround, for those that have been there. I worked there in the late 90’ and early 2000’s, and have certainly seen a lot of change. The homeless problem is certainly an issue. Closed down stores everywhere…. I believe this is due to less brick & mortar store and greater online shopping. There’s a good amount, but less tourist, likely due to the pandemic.

I can recall in the 90’s that there was a theft problem. Certain individuals and also theft groups including smash and grabs. The giant cement pillars in front of some store fronts were put there to prevent people from driving cars into the closed storefront and grabbing merchandise. I was in meetings about the cost of loss prevention officers/ armed security guards and open/closed sales ( closed means locked in a case)

My point is the theft issue has always been an issue. I’m sure it’s gotten worse for some retailers esp when they are not having sales to offset the loss
