I guess it's fair to say that Clemson put Clemson in the ICU yesterday.

We didn't prepare or respect the team as much as we should have.

There are several types of coaches, and teams in sports in general. The crappy team and coach who know they're crappy and always are crappy. Then you have the coach and team who knows they're good, and play to the level they expect to see on the field/court/diamond/whatever.
THEN, you have the dynasty and championship teams. and those teams know they're good, and expect a battle with ANYONE and EVERYONE they play. This last category practices consistently, game plans consistently, scrimmages consistently, and plays hard, consistently no matter who they play.

My post had nothing to do with the schools or fans, just the coaches and teams

Mainly because the coaches and teams tend to go hand-in hand. Fans are all over the place.
Our BB team is in the second example I gave. That's based on the performance of the coach and the team. Side note - The second category I mentioned, OFTEN those teams win the "big games" and overachieve, only to lose to North Calgon State Tech college.
I see Brownlee and Tommy Bowden as similar coaches of the second category with their respective teams and sports. Good teams with plenty of talent, overachieve and win some huge games, only to lose no East Poughkeepsie Junior College.
Championship teams and dynasty teams are built different. They run on more of a system that really is not based on their specific opponent. One could argue this system is massively inefficient as you prepare hard for everyone and give everyone your A game (leading to injuries of key players sometimes in crap games, etc.), but the system being consistent is what makes the wins consistent. The opponents vary, but if you vary your coaching, preparation, etc. in an effort to be more efficient and play to the level of your opponent, then you lose.
And yes, Dabo, Nick Saban, Lou Holtz (at ND), Coach K, Dean Smith, pick your sport and dynasty team, these coaches and teams ran systems and are in that last category. And yes, the coaches review film, and do all of the film room work, and adjust plays, introduce some new ones, and blow the dust off some old plays based on the opponent and their strengths and weaknesses. But there are THOUSANDS of coaches who can review film and come up with a good game plan. There are very few who do that within a consistent system of preparation that otherwise remains little changed other than some small tweaks each week based on the opponent. The second category of coaches will sometimes reinvent the wheel to win a big game (overachieve), only to lose the next one because the players are lost trying to reinvent the wheel again. Because they don't establish a consistent system/foundation of stability.

Turn down Indiana, especially after Clemson just announced that football will be getting the lion’s share of athlete revenue sharing, unless you knew you might have a three year shelf life, tops, at a real basketball school?

His actual offensive strategy for a decade plus now.
“Ok guys, tonight we have a scrappy team with tough defense and a propensity for fast breaks. We are going to counteract it by going 40% or better from behind the arc. All clear? Let’s go win this thing”
