Clemson releases depth chart for Georgia game
Clemson released a depth chart on Monday that will look quite familiar to those tracking such things with only one notable change. Georgia didn't release one at all this week. Read into those two things what you will but the only change from Clemson's pre-camp depth chart on Monday was true freshman Read Update » |

Fred Davis as an apparent starter. Surprised by that.

I think there is violation of team rules and violation of judgement while driving. The latter would make more sense to me and why this wasn’t a suspension punishment deal. Just an opinion.

Yeah, this is bad. I don't understand the logic and it's incredibly inconsistent. Sammy Watkins gets popped for possession of weed and Adderall in 2012, and gets suspended for the two opening games, including a then-ranked matchup with Auburn in the CFA Kick-Off in Atlanta that year.
Fred Davis almost kills someone driving like an absolute maniac on 123, and doesn't get suspended. I do not believe running stadium steps or picking up equipment after practices constitutes a sufficient punishment. This is a bad look and Dabo should feel bad.
We don't need to give other teams and the CFB establishment more ammo to use against us. Davis should have been off the team, if you ask me.

“Georgia has elected not to furnish a week 1 depth chart”; still plenty of time to run afoul of Johnny Law before Saturday they’ll probably wait til Friday to set the starters.

He could practice for a year and still not deserve to be an "or" with Will Swinney. I love Dabo but that kid is not a college football player. A holder ok...wr??? Not a chance

No way this is how it will go when the game starts!
As mentioned, Spector hasn't even practiced!
Davis - most likely will be under some type of team rule discipline.
KJ Henry will play a ton - don't believe that 3rd string.
Trotter has been mentioned for center but it's mostly been a Bockhorst and Rayburn question. All of a sudden "it's Trotter"!
Not buying it.
Or maybe - "it's spot on"! Dabo and co. play a ton of people. It's called Trust and giving those kids what they played for: "playing time"! If best is the standard and the staff trust players to uphold best as the standard - it simply doesn't matter who runs out 1st. Whoever helps the offense move the ball more will play more snaps. Whoever helps the defense defend better will get more reps!
Team ball!

Then how is he on the depth chart as a WR? Boy do you look silly.
He plays LB. I put the WR Spector in the subject line. My mistake.

Agree. Surprised Ajou didn't at least crack 2 deep. I know he'll get PT but as much time as Ngata has missed, thought Ajou would be 2, if not 1.
Was hoping Lavonta would be 2. Obviously Capehart was more hurt than I realized.

Yeah I don’t believe this Depth Chart is truly how things will shake out. Like I know Simpson will be on the field 85% of the time and they’ll move him all around. Very surprised Tate isn’t a starter at guard.

Tate and Tristan Leigh. Thought we may see Lay at TE with all the praise he received.

I don't see Ladson as starter material with as many drops he had last year...hope he's worked on his hands and focus on the ball.

The defense isn't even a depth chart lol, more like just a list of everyone who is playing. Literally an "OR" at every position

The WR chart is one of the most egregious examples of "one of these things is not like the others" I've ever seen.

Couple of players listed outside of their natural positions…

Andrew Mukuba is a ball-hawking FS but we’re playing him at SS. Jeremiah Trotter Jr is a prototypical MLB but we have him slated at WLB.

Did I not read in the spring practice and fall camp wraps that they were playing multiple positions. Maybe not. I kinda hope we see different personnel groupings. To me, if you look at the chart and go off that, it's exactly what we put on the field against osu.., less DK of course.
Not concerned about us scoring. OSU had some big plays, true, but they also limited our offensive snaps. Either get uga off the field or like 2018 natty, limited to field goals.

Yes, several players like Turner, Capehart, Swint, etc… we’re cross training, but my comment was based on Mukuba and Trotter’s primary positions being misaligned with their skill set. It’s odd, but I trust BV to find the right position for them in his defensive scheme.
