Amazing that we could've won that game with pretty much zero ground game. Cade was all but magnificent. After reading on here that Eziomume was going to get his chance, I wonder how that kid is doing after getting zero touches. Hopefully, not too discouraged. Hope he sticks around.
Texas only punted once the entire game. They had two turnovers on downs and an interception. So the defense got four stops all game long. Pretty tough to win like that. I'm with others on here: the decline on that side of the ball is undeniable. It's been pretty precipitous. Wouldn't hate to see someone else get a shot at leading the defense.

I wouldn’t blame EZ for leaving, 3 rbs and a wr got more touches than him. It shows what the coaches think of him.

Yes, the failure to score with 1st and goal from the 5 is a big problem. Still, with Cade's growth and development of the O-Line with a new coach, and the addition of some big-time WRs, our offense has improved and appears headed in the right direction.
To me, our defense is a much bigger concern. We can't shut down anybody. We can't get stops when we need them to save our lives. 3rd and 17? No problem. Giving up big chunks play after play. Our defensive talent, while not at NC levels of the past, is better than we have shown. To get back to the playoff, and certainly to win a NC, we need change on that side of the ball, with new direction and new hope.

Another slightly shifted perspective. He wasn’t excepted to be needed this year. That wasn’t the plan. EZ knew that coming into the season. Then, surprise happens and the #1 and 2 RBs go down. EZ gets thrust into ST play and with the first opportunity fumbles. Ok, he wasn’t ready so we went with AR8 for a more experienced player.
Fast forward 2 weeks. In a CFP game, EZ got in the game for several snaps. That’s great experience and he was part of the gameplay even if it was a limited role. He ended up getting more snaps than expected with the original plan for the year. EZ might have had his eyes opened by being thrown in the fire. This could be a win win for him. Still has the year of eligibility, got some experience, had a rough time of it when thrust into the moment, but still got to play in the ACCCG and CFP. He should have plenty of motivation for next season.

Actually they had 3 turnovers on downs, all in plus territory.
In comparison, Vandy forced Texas to punt 4 times, and only allowed 104 yards rushing.
We (and the media) can spin the stats a lot of ways. Texas in stats has a good defense and the talking points are they have a great secondary. Both can be right and wrong. I would like to see an unbiased film study of the game.
Point being, we had one turnover that resulted in zero points for Texas. Essentially, they stopped themselves and this game had no business being just a 14 point win. The one 4th down pass they missed, if ewers doesn't pull a dj and lays it in front, the guy walks into the ez.
As for our running game. Even with a healthy mafah, our running game has been non existence all year. This season has totally been mismanaged starting last December. We could and should have been a final 4 team. Take the orange colors off and any media bias and you'll probably conclude the same.
Pwoo at DE??? As boneheaded Dabo decision as cross training all olineman 2 years ago. Dabo. Great coach and manager, motivator. But he needs cbv and Scott around him that will take his waffle house menu from him.

Cade’s a legit qb who’s good enough to lead us to a higher level next year, and the defense is porous, and Goodwin should be held accountable
