That this team must have is LEADERSHIP on the field. With it the Tigers will be a top team. That’s a lot of pressure to put on a young quarterback but I’m betting the new offensive coordinator has already begun to help the new kid be THE man on the field. Eleven guys who absolutely refuse to lose will win a LOT of games. 2023 could, and likely will be, a season to remember.
YOU being in Durham will show the players it’s time to show off.
Antonio Williams is a fiery competitor as much as Shipley is. In year two for him, I think he is the type that calls WR's out over not completing routes or not diving for a pass that wasn't pinpoint perfect(sometimes they won't be - the other team has kids on scholarship for defense too). Or not making routine catches. Dudes like that; you either love them or hate them - the ones who hate that - will step up because they don't want to hear it. The dudes who respond to it; will get their fill and respond positively!
Both Shipley and Williams I think take a huge step in "putting their arms around the OL and gently pushing them at times when they may need a nudge"! I envision Cade being the calming influence that stirs the drink and makes it all work! Telling the players who may not have liked the two more fiery types delivery - "everything is going to be okay and here is why"! Which will settle things down and the Tigers roll.
