Dang I really liked his upside.
I was kind of wondering about him. He's skilled enough to start in the power 5, but he is stuck behind PJ. At best, he wouldn't start until his senior year and if pj hall comes back for a 5th year, he would never start.

Well just like there are outgoing transfers, there is also transfers that we can bring in. I'm assuming we will go to the portal to try and get a center.

How about what percentage of Brads outgoing transfers ended up playing in a tourney versus incoming. Will take a little work but I’d bet it’s embarrassingly lopsided.

This guy in New York, played some valuable minutes this past season and was going to be a bigger, contributor moving forward. This is a very big loss. He was one of our top seven or eight players on last year‘s team. He would’ve been top five or six next season. It’s basically like a starter transferring.

You're revealing your lack of basketball knowledge (once again)...Ben gives great effort but his skill level is obviously lacking and will likely never be a starter in most major programs. He gave us a good 10 minutes a game that will be missed but his minutes will not likely increase much at all with Hall, Schieflin and Godfrey back. I'm sure he wants to be a starter and I don't blame him; imo he will most likely be transferring to a mid-major where he his size will allow him the opportunity to actually compete to be a starter. It will be interesting to see who ends up where once all this transfer dust settles...who knows, we may end up with someone very good.

He was one of the first players off the bench. He played nearly 12 minutes a game. He was one of our primary bench players. He would’ve been a bigger contributor next year.

Like I said, you're off base big time...Brownell has little to nothing to do with Ben's bball abilities as a 2nd year player. I like Ben but literally can NOT shoot the ball well enough to score beyond 2 ft from the rim. To play meaningful minutes for a Power 5 program, you have to at least be able to shoot at mid-range.

I don't blame any of them that hits the head to the portal after Neff tells them he will be making changes if Brad doesn't get them to the dance. Well no dance, not even in the locker room, and now Neff says well Brad had a good season even though he didn't take the team dancing. His plan was to part ways with Brad if no dance, and he makes himself a liar, so how could any of them ever trust Neff again, I wouldn't as a player on the team, and now I don't as a fan, nobody should ever trust a LIAR, and Neff has proved to be a nutless LIAR!!!!

A little different with UNC where you have 4*/5* players begging to come and play for you. Fairly easy to fill those gaps with top talent. Not exactly the case for us...

Again, if expected starters were transferring them we might have an issue. When back ups are transferring to get more playing time, then that is normal and happens everywhere.

& obviously Hall is testing NBA waters. But even if he returns, I expect there to be a step back w/ Tyson & Galloway graduating. Has been the m.o. under the Brownell era - have a good year, lose 1 or 2 pieces, & they fall right back to earth

He and Schieff did a great job as freshmen filling in for the injured PJ Hall down the stretch, very likely helping save Brad's job last year in the process. Both looked the part this season, though Ben did struggle scoring down low, but that's something you can coach up. Ben even got a buzz cut for the stretch run this season.

This tells you all you need to know about how they fill about the state of the B-Ball program. If Hall doesn't return we'll be lucky to win 10-12 games next year. Losing Hall and Tyson is huge in itself....throw in Wiggins and Middlebrook transferring. They better have a good plan in recruiting and attacking the portal hard. Lacking bigs was a big issue, now we hardly have any. Its an all guard lineup at this point.

We have one commit for 23 or 24. With a short timer coach whose fanbase hates him and a team culture that has his players attacking the fanbase on social media. I really expect to see recruiting take off. This was all entirely predictable and avoidable. And Neff failed miserably.

There is no place on earth like Clemson, and to have to give that up because your head coach is such a dud and the administration doesn't give a rip alongside truly stinks. Coaches are hired hands. Our students are one of us. Ben and the rest of those guys deserve better than the warmed over turd we've stuck them with.

Your take on this is off base....basketball players come to a program to play and not a little but a lot. His effort is great but his skill level is obviously limiting and most likely his playing time will not increase much. Imo he will be transferring to a mid-major program where he will actually compete to be a starter...his size is very much needed by the mid-majors and should have many suitors.

I think we are working the portal pretty hard. The problem is so is everyone else. Brad did a good job early on before transfers became as competitive as they are now. It will be more challenging as a result.

He doesn’t start for any power 5 team. He’s good for intentional fouls and 3-5 mins for PJ to get a rest. He has NO post moves or jump shot beyond 4 feet. Tough loss but not what most of you are playing him up to be.

Exactly! He gave great effort but bascically became our hatchet man. He just doesn't seem to be able to shoot the ball at all beyond a couple feet from the rim which severly limits his scoring ability. I wish he would stay but if he wants more playing time then he will likely be transferring to a mid-major program where his size will allow him to actually compete to be a starter (and I don't blame him).

From what I’ve seen reported elsewhere, this transfer indicates strong likelihood that Hall is planning to return. We can probably find someone in the portal to provide Middlebrooks rebounding and put back offense, so overall this is sounding like a net positive for the Tigers (if Brownell is half competent to bring a transfer in). Recent success would seem to indicate he will do ok.

Brad only knows mid major basketball. Small team, shooting massive number of 3s. No offensive rebounding, no enforcer, rebounder, rim protector. Soft basketball.
Ben was the only potential on the team.
If PJ leaves, wow.
I am sure Brad will pick up some reject from another bad coach.

I like Ben BUT he has limited bball skills and scoring ability...no post moves and mo mid-range game at all. He's not a Power 5 player most anywhere except for the limited minutes he's gotten this year. I wish he would stay but certainly don't blame him for wanting more playing time at a mid-major where his size will give him the opportunity to play more.

Best of luck Ben, but not a big loss. He was a good backup for PJ- 2 or 3 quick fouls, couple rebounds, and no points over 5 to 10 minutes. Just couldn't play on the perimeter and no low posts moves. That being said, he did protect the rim on defense. We'll need a back-up to P.J. who most certainly will be back after not getting drafted. More than a big backup, the Tigers need a couple more ball handlers that can avoid turnovers and get to the rim off the dribble.
