The Dems don't know how to let a sleeping dog lie. If they ignore DJT, his influence diminishes. If they rouse his base AND normal GOPers, he looks like a martyr. Not smart. At all.
And just think, the Dems had an advantage with Roe being overturned, gas prices coming down, Dem "victories" (taxes) with climate, etc.
Oh well. Mess with the bull you get the horns.

media leaks over and over and over during Russian collusion.
They said Garland had no knowledge of the raid ahead of time. Then the next day, hey, hey approved it.
I dont believe the nuclear thing one bit. They throw that out there to buy them some damage control time. Trying to make it seem like he's holding nuclear codes or something. smh. I think people actually believe he's holding make the design to make a bomb. The President would never have something so detailed. They threw the word nuclear, to create a sensation.

ATL PAW MAN is not an extremist, Slac. He's conservative but no MAGA maniac, and usually a pretty good egg.
It's just an opinion piece...and one that seems to predate the whole "nuclear secrets" thing anyhow.
The FBI action was strong, and a lot of people were wondering what on Earth it was all about. If it turns out, though, that Trump was illegally holding America's nuclear secrets, the discussion completely changes.
I personally think Trump is running out of road, and he's about to spend the next few years of his life losing in courtrooms.

Which I'd say describes 99.9% of the lunge, but pre-1/6, APM was as big a DJT fanboi as we had around here. Every other post was MAGA! or "Go champ go!!!". Neither here nor there, just keeping the historical record straight.

The FBI lied, spied and was totally corrupt. Hillary colluded with Russian to get a fake dossier and the FBI worked to propogate the lie to the media
All of those are facts of history that you called conspiracy theories not too long ago. But all of those "anonymous" sources were considered 100% fact and truth.
guess what, they were the conspiracies. And you fell for them.

[ in reply to dude, we have history on our side. Russian collusion, ] |

of a mistake or misstep, and come to the conclusion that an entire agency, concept, platform, whatever, is corrupt and must be blown up.
Trump had Paul Manafort running his election campaign...a guy who had never in his life even worked on a campaign, much less managed one. Anything about that seem a little..."odd" to you? Manafort's connections to Russian intelligence are likely just the tip of the iceberg, but even if it's the WHOLE iceberg, it makes your statement of "Russian collusion was fake!" simply not true.
Twitter and Facebook took down stories about Hunter Biden's laptop prior to the election. That's your one, single example of social media platforms squashing a true story, which at the time, had no confirmation, and let's be honest...was so ridiculous that it sounded fake even to people on the right. It wasn't, and that means it was a fuckup by those platforms. But then you make the automatic leap to "PEOPLE SHOULD BE ABLE TO POST WHATEVER THEY WANT ABOUT WHOMEVER WHENEVER, BECAUSE HUNTER BIDEN'S LAPTOP." No. Absolutely not. No way.
It's just fascinating to watch the FBI, headed by a Trump appointee, get spun into this strongarm mafia branch of the Democrats to the point that it must be disbanded. You have no objectivity in this whatsoever.

Again, I want Desantis not him. But its clear to any non-partisan, that they are pulling no punches to make sure he doesn't become President.
If he had zero chance, then why even "destroy democracy", as the libs like to say.

Media not overplayed the race-baiting leading up to the 2016 election. He was dead in the water in September but the clown far left parted the seas for him.
On the other hand, he would have won in ‘20 had he not been such a bully in the debates with Biden… anyone on the fence tipped when he could not control himself and proved he has absolutely zero decorum or class.
My belief (hope?) as an anti trump conservative is that there is a large faction of like minded people who believe he is unelectable, and want and expect that trump will ultimately be disgraced, if not convicted, and will not get the nomination.

However, should he declare in the next couple months, the mid-terms will not follow historical patterns and Democrats will have surprising success, not just in the Senate, but in the House as well.
Trump is a walking talking roiling pot of corruption who corrupts almost everyone around him and every day leading up to the elections will provide constant reminders of that fact.
If these elections are about Trump and the extremism of the GOP, they will lose.
Democrats would love nothing more than Trump at the top of the ticket and the sooner the better.

Maybe I should clarify. Experience tells me that people always get things wrong in the first instance.
I actually read the Brooks article (did anyone else?). I like Brooks and often agree with him.
My impression is that the FBI had legitimate reasons to do what it did. My guess is it will find some damning documents that will do nothing to weaken Trump’s support. I'm also convinced that, at least for now, it has unintentionally improved Trump's re-election chances. It has unintentionally made life harder for Trump's potential primary challengers and motivated his base.

I don't get the "it will look different in hindsight" prediction?
Brooks says that this raid looks like it didn't need to go down this way, and the way it went down will embolden and grow his support.
I assumed your hindsight post meant that bad things would be found, things that proved the FBI's actions to be correct and things that would diminish his support, but your clarification said that you also believe the actions would embolden and build his support, which is the same as Brooks point?

Yes, you have it correct. I think the key is in the phrase "at least for now."
I'm also convinced that, at least for now, it has unintentionally improved Trump's re-election chances.
So I'm saying,we're in the as-it's-breaking moment with incomplete information and no closure on the procedural aspects. My suggestion is that this moment will look and feel different over time, and let's see what it looks like once we have the benefit of hindsight.

I have a feeling they just threw the word, nuclear, out there b/c they were getting such heat. They needed damage control.
But maybe I'm wrong and Trump has the nuclear codes and sold them to Russia.
