Three Tigers earn AP midseason All-America honors

Two Clemson players were named first-team All-America and another earned second-team midseason honors from the Associated Press on Tuesday.

Senior starting left tackle Mitch Hyatt and junior defensive end Clelin Ferrell got the nod for the AP first-team.

Hyatt is approaching former Clemson center Dalton Freeman for the most snaps ever in a Tigers uniform (3,232; 3,361 for Freeman) after making his 48th career start at Wake Forest, which is one short of tying Landon Walker and Dalton Freeman for the most starts of any Clemson offensive lineman. He earned offensive lineman of the week honors for his efforts versus Texas A&M and Syracuse.

Ferrell leads Clemson in sacks (6), tackles for loss (8) and run stuffs (9.5) after coming into the season with a slew of preseason All-American honors.

Dynamic sophomore running back Travis Etienne was tabbed with second-team honors, ranking second among qualified-runners in yards per carry (9.17), fourth in rushing TDs (11), fourth in total touchdowns (12) fifth in rushing yards per game (126.8), sixth in rushing yards (761).

No. 3 Clemson returns to action this weekend versus NC State in a home 3:30 p.m. kickoff (ESPN).
