WATCH: Watson on beating South Carolina on one leg

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson junior quarterback Deshaun Watson discussed defeating rival South Carolina with a torn ACL his freshman season with Seth Davis during a recent interview.

"It [the ACL] was torn," Watson said. It was completely torn."

Watson knows the importance that the state of South Carolina holds the rivalry game between Clemson and South Carolina.

"In recruiting, I told one of my high school coaches that as long as I’m the starting quarterback I never want to lose to South Carolina."

Swinney gave Watson the chance to play since he looked decent during the week of practice leading up to the game.

"I told Dabo, 'I want to play.' And he said, 'If you can make plays by Wednesday or Thursday, and you look good, then [you can play].' I was in a lot of pain."
