360 degree Matrix-style replays coming to football

The next generation of instant replay has arrived as NBC has announced a plan to bring Matrix-style replays called freeD to pro football. These 360 degree slow motion replays will begin week one at the Giants/Cowboys game on September 8th.

Replay technology has always been first used in the NFL and then adopted by the NCAA. So it stands to reason that Matrix-style replays will be coming to college football in the near future.

To see freeD in action, check out the video below of a Yankees home game:

NBC will have two 24-camera rigs set up in each end zone to capture the new replay:
