Updated NCAA Tournament projection for Clemson keeps Palmetto State battle

by -

Another week in and just a week to the selections, D1Baseball is keeping a Palmetto State projection in Doug Kingsmore Stadium for the NCAA Tournament.

After picking a trio of South Carolina-based teams in Clemson last week, D1 is sticking with the rival Gamecocks heading to Tiger Town, but as a 3-seed this time after they went 0-3 last week and dropped out of D1's Top 25. Clemson is projected as a No. 6 national seed, holding a Top 10 RPI (7) and Top 15 strength of schedule (14).

The Tigers went 2-0 versus South Carolina in a rain-altered, multi-site series this year, with a win at Segra Park and a win at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

The Louisiana Ragin Cajuns are the projected 2-seed now and Army is in the 4-seed spot in the D1 forecast.

It is pegged opposite of an NC State Regional for the next round. The ACC is predicted to host five regionals total, with UNC (4), Florida State (9) and Virginia (12) as well.

Kentucky is the predicted No. 1 overall seed.

On3's latest NCAA Tournament projection also has Clemson as a No. 6 national seed hosting Louisiana, as well as UNC Wilmington and Florida A&M. East Carolina is the regional paired with it for the Supers.

Clemson begins its quest for back-to-back ACC titles on Thursday in pool play at Charlotte's Truist Field against Miami (11 a.m./ACCN) and completes pool action versus Louisville on Friday (3 p.m./ACCN). If the Tigers advance on, it's then a single-elimination semifinal on Saturday at 5 p.m. (ACCN) and a single-elimination final at noon on Sunday (ESPN2).
