Like many of you, I held my breath and said a prayer as Mike WilliamsMike Williams

was carted off the field Saturday. Football was the farthest thing from our minds at the time.

Now that we know Williams is out for an extended period, we can turn our attention to what it means in terms of football.

Williams will be missed. He is a complete receiver. Williams was the Tigers' best deep threat. He was the biggest target across the middle. It is obvious he will be missed.

However, Clemson receiver coach Jeff ScottJeff Scott

said it best yesterday when he said no one will feel sorry for Clemson's wide outs. This group is deep and talented.

A player that many of us continue to undervalue is Artavis ScottArtavis Scott

. His explosiveness changed the South Carolina and Oklahoma games last season. That was again on display Saturday in the season opener. Scott has great speed and terrific balance. Saturday he looked stronger.

will get more looks with Williams out. In fact, Peake moves to Williams' position. This will be a great opportunity for him to be the kind of player we thought he would be the last couple of seasons.

. Both are capable and offer different strengths. Hopper excels in the open field while Thompson gives the Tigers a bigger wide out.

The two true freshmen now may have bigger roles. Ray Ray McCloud looked like a veteran Saturday and is a huge part of the game plan moving forward. He looks versatile enough to help the Tigers without Williams.

Besides Peake and Thompson, perhaps the player with the biggest new role is Deon CainDeon Cain

. There is so much to learn, but Cain will have to grow up fast as he moves from the third team and gets more looks.

The good news here is there is depth despite the loss of perhaps the team's best wideout. Also, this offensive line played very well Saturday. They played ten linemen in the first half Saturday, and they impressed. Also, the tight ends will help give the staff options in the passing game.

And, oh yeah, Deshaun WatsonDeshaun Watson
