was not having a typical night Tuesday as the No. 1 Yellow Jackets squared off against No. 4 Richland Northeast with the Region 4-4A lead at stake. The Clemson commitment was struggling from the field and had two or three Cavaliers meeting him at every turn. But on the final possession of a tied game, the 6-foot Roper tipped in a missed shot at the buzzer to give Irmo a dramatic 49-47 victory. “When Detrek (Browning) got the ball, I was supposed to run off a screen, but I broke late,” Roper said. “So when he took the shot, I knew everybody usually stands around and watches, so I went hard to the boards. I wanted to dunk it but could only get a hand on it, and luckily it went in.”
