from Jacksonville, FL has committed to Florida State according to his twitter account. He became the first commitment for the 2017 Florida State recruiting class. Florida State was his favorite school growing up.

Earlier in Matthews' recruitment, Clemson was in his top five schools. He has offers from Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, Florida State, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Miami, North Carolina, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Tennessee, USF and others.

As a freshman, he had 39 receptions for 640 yards and seven touchdowns. After the stellar campaign, he was named a MaxPreps Freshman All-American. He has been very impressive in several football camps in the last few months.
