Grew up in Anderson, South Carolina and his mother went to Clemson. Rooks has been recruited by Clemson since the 7th grade. During his sophomore campaign, Rooks averaged 15 points, three rebounds and three assists per game. He played well at the Carolina Challenge, scoring nearly 19 points a game. His mother, Vea Rooks received her Master’s degree from Clemson University, and his dad, Steven graduated from nearby Southern Wesleyan University. He committed to Clemson on 5/13/2011.
