Rumph Makes Big Impression
Chris Rumph has picked up some recruiting territory in the state of Florida for the Tigers. Rumph has one of the nation's top defensive linemen in his area. Torrey Davis does not lack for suitors. Rumph took a very honest approach to recruiting Davis.
"One of the first things Coach Rumph asked me was what were the chances of me coming to Clemson. When he asked me, I wasn't even thinking twice about Clemson. I thought that would be the last I heard from him."
Instead Rumph continued to pursue Davis, and now the two have become close.
"I have started talking to Coach Rumph more than any other coach. We talk about everything. I know how bad he wants me to come play for him."
Davis has put the Tigers in his top three along with two other SEC schools.
"Clemson, Florida, and Alabama are my top three. Florida has always been there, and a lot of people around me have always talked Florida up. Coach (Urban) Meyer really is about to do some big things. Alabama just has a style I like. They are physical and smack people around."
Davis has some work to do in the classroom, but he is putting forth the effort.
"I am going to summer school. I am taking day classes and night classes. I have to make up for the time I slacked off. I am going to make it."
This would be a huge pickup for Rumph and the Tigers, if he continues to keep Clemson as a factor.
