Gaffney (S.C.) proved to any remaining doubters that it is the best team in the state of South Carolina by not allowing an offensive touchdown in a 35-13 rout over traditional state power Byrnes (Duncan).

The nation's No. 11 team displayed a stout defense and a balanced offense to record its its second win over Byrnes in as many season.

caught two touchdown passes from quarterback Joey Copeland to help Gaffney race to an early 14-3 lead.

Byrnes recovered a botched Gaffney snap in the end zone for its only touchdown, closing the score to 14-10 at halftime.

Sophomore standout Shaquille Davidson returned the second-half kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown to extend Gaffney's lead to 21-10.

Byrnes responded with a field goal, but that was all the Rebels would muster. Touchdown runs by Copeland and sophomore running back Hyleck Foster put the game out of reach.

Gaffney is now undefeated against a rigorous schedule that has featured Dorman and Greenwood in addition to Byrnes.
