The nation’s top-rated safety committed to Clemson while in attendance for the spring game weekend.
Clemson’s talent-rich 2020 class extends into the Lone Star State with four-star defender RJ Mickens out of Southlake, Texas. Mickens earned district MVP honors as a junior with 57 stops, 43 solo, with a pair of interceptions. He’s averaged 5.2 tackles per game with seven picks over the last three seasons. He attended Clemson camp last June and also visited campus last November and Junior Day in March. Mickens is the son of former longtime NFL cornerback Ray Mickens, who played with the New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and New England Patriots. Clemson moved up to No. 2 in the 247Sports rankings with its 10th commitment. All ten commits have a 247 Composite 4-star average, with Mickens a first defensive back addition in the class.
