His top five schools are Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, Florida State and Clemson. Previously, Alabama was not on his list of top schools. Thompson has visited all of the schools in his top five except Clemson. Georgia was his first offer and he has very high interest in the Bulldogs. He has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Ohio State, Penn State, South Carolina, South Florida, Tennessee and others. Several recruiting services have Thompson as the nation's #1 overall player for 2015. In 2013, he had 83 tackles and 12 sacks. In 2012, he had 65 tackles and 12 tackles for loss and 5 sacks.
