5-star 2017 quarterback Hunter Johnson from Brownsburg, Indiana has committed to Clemson on Monday night.
Johnson committed to Tennessee very early in the recruiting process on Aug. 23 and was the first Vols' commitment of 2017. Clemson offered six days ago, and he flipped to Clemson after a visit on Friday to TigerTown. This is actually the fourth commit Tennessee has lost in a week. He is regarded as one of the elite QB's in the entire 2017 recruiting cycle and Rivals.com and 247Sports.com have Johnson ranked as the top 2017 quarterback in the nation. He has early offers from Alabama, Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, Purdue, Vanderbilt and others. As a junior, he passed for 2,545 yards with 31 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. In 2014, he completed 54% of his passes for 1,434 passing yards with 10 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Johnson is the third commit for Clemson's 2017 recruiting class.
