Clemson returned to the Sunshine State for a highly-productive running back to add to a stable of talented backs on campus already.
More on Chez Mellusi... Chez Mellusi - 4-star RB - Naples, Fla. Committed since: 4/16/18. Listed size: 6-1 205. Recruiter: Tony Elliott. Brings to Clemson: Mellusi has been a workhorse for Naples’ run-centered scheme, showing big-play ability in huge production levels as an upperclassman. Over the last two seasons, Mellusi has topped 100 rushing yards in 19 of the 23 games he played in with 40 touchdowns. He capped his high school campaign by averaging 9.9 yards per carry last season. At 6-foot-1 and already over 200 pounds, he has frame that the Tigers can build on into a bruising back with some breakaway speed at the collegiate level. Depth chart fit: Mellusi can plug in early and provide a spark much like Lyn-J Dixon in 2018 with a 2019 RB depth chart that should feature three returners in Dixon, ACC player of the year Travis Etienne and a senior in Tavien Feaster. The prospect of potentially losing Feaster and Etienne after next season, however, could keep running back signings for 2019 in a redshirt role to plan ahead. Number to know: 9.3 - Mellusi’s yards per carry average over the last three seasons.
